These lists contain all the manuscripts used in the present edition.

Consistently cited witnesses are signalled by a preceding *. If a manuscript is consistently cited for single writings only, this is specified by [*]; the respective writings are marked by * in the fourth column.

In the column to the right (cont.) are listed the New Testament writings represented in the manuscripts. For consistently cited witnesses the same minimal book abbreviations are used as for the marginal apparatus (see above, p. 84*), when a manuscript's contents cannot be indicated in summary form.

e a p r

e a p r indicate the contents of manuscripts in summary form (e = Gospels; a = Apostolos, i.e., Acts and the Catholic Letters; p = Pauline letters; r = Revelation).

act, cath

act, cath indicate Acts and the Catholic Letters respectively when they must be distinguished.

vac.

vac. (= vacat) is used to identify the extent of lacunae, and is placed after the summary indication of contents (cf. for W 032). The actual contents are indicated positively for witnesses of lesser extent, e.g., fragments, or for conciseness of detail. It should be noted that for the purposes of description here a verse is counted as present if a single letter of it is preserved. This qualification is especially significant with regard to consistently cited witnesses in the apparatus.

✝ (= defective) is used with witnesses other than those consistently cited to indicate incomplete preservation of the contents described (e.g., for X 033: eK✝).

K

K following the description of contents indicates a commentary manuscript.

l

l indicates a lectionary with the text of the Gospels of the Byzantine Church tradition.

The following special abbreviations are used for lectionaries:

la

la: a lectionary with the text of the Apostolos (Acts, Catholic and Pauline Letters);

l+a

l+a: a lectionary with the text of the Apostolos and the Gospels;

U-l

U-l: an uncial lectionary;

le

le: a lectionary with readings for the weekdays (ἑβδομάδες);

lesk

lesk: a lectionary with readings for the weekdays (ἑβδομάδες) from Easter to Pentecost, and for the Saturdays and Sundays (σαββατοκυριακαί) of the other weeks;

lsk

lsk: a lectionary with readings only for Saturdays and Sundays (σαββατοκυριακαί);

lsel (Jerus.)

lsel (Jerus.): a lectionary with readings for select days (selectae) according to the Jerusalem order.
