Professor Malcom was challenged with balancing the educational needs of more advanced and novice counseling students. This critical issue can present itself in any counseling course, but it is prevalent in multicultural counseling courses, which are rife with opportunities for students from more privileged backgrounds to aggress against students from marginalized backgrounds. Instructors must balance the learning needs of students, facilitate growth, and redesign multicultural counseling courses. Considerations for faculty members in counselor education from marginalized backgrounds are also discussed in this case analysis.
