We chose to be here and chose the circumstances of our birth, including our parents.

We are consciousness that has come from elsewhere.

We all came into being through the Doorway of Existence made up of two halves—one half our father, the other our mother. Each person on earth, regardless of their specific circumstances after conception, is the result of the pairing of a human female life force (our biological mother) and a human male life force (our biological father). Who we are begins with them, and everything else that follows meets us on the other side of our own distinctive entrance into life.

First, we must open to the realization that we are more than mere flesh, bones, and brain. We are an amalgam of energies, a life force that coalesced and descended from the realm of Spirit into human form. We are Spirit as Soul. As Buddhist and Hindu philosophies teach, each one made a choice while in the Spirit realm, prior to incarnation, to descend into human form. We pass through the Veil of Forgetting and enter life through the combined ancestral, biological, genetic, DNA pairing of our parents. We got here through them. Were it not for the gift of life, we would not have the opportunity to awaken and remember our true nature.

This understanding gradually lifts us out of any sense of victimization. We begin to realize that what we experience in this lifetime, no matter how horrific, may have its beginnings in choices made before our human consciousness formed. In no way does this view diminish a true acknowledgement of the cruelty that humans habitually inflict upon each other. However, each of us has the potential to change habitual patterns that keep us from awakening our potential as Souls having a human experience.

Before you proceed to the second question, please contemplate our brief reflections on the first perennial question: How did I get here?

I came through a choice I made prior to birth.

That choice included my biological mother and father.

I am energy, a life force, consciousness that has traveled from another realm and now resides inside my physical body.

I am Spirit incarnated.

Contemplation is the purest of human action.
