5 Where Will They Get Their Nutrients?

Оглавление

It’s funny how doctors, dieticians and, to be fair, many of the people who go on this program, all of a sudden become anxious about where they are going to get their RDA (recommended daily allowance) of protein, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, and fiber. When they were eating and drinking junk they weren’t overly worried, yet put them on a program that consists of nothing but fruits, vegetables, and super food supplements, plenty of water, and some exercise and suddenly they are worried about whether their body is getting what it requires to function properly!

Why on earth do people worry about stuff like protein and calcium when they start to consume only fruits and vegetables? It’s simple. Ever since we were born we have been bombarded with the “must have meat and milk for good health” propaganda. We have been so brainwashed on this front that we now believe that it would be dangerous if we didn’t—even for a week. We believe we would have a major calcium and protein deficiency. Excuse my language, but there is only one word in the English dictionary that can some up what I need to say right now:

BULLSHIT

All fruits and vegetables contain both calcium and amino acids (the building blocks to protein) in just the ratio we need. In fact, onions and turnips are loaded with calcium; almonds contain almost as much protein as red meat and 6% more calcium per 3.5 oz (100 g) than plain yogurt. Spirulina—a super food supplement contained in many of the juices on this program—is the highest natural protein food on the planet with all of the essential amino acids required for optimum health. It’s also worth pointing out that the largest land animal in the world, with the biggest teeth and some mean muscles, is a bull elephant; and it’s an animal that is a vegan—consuming no meat or dairy whatsoever.

The fear of our wasting away and becoming deficient in certain essential nutrients if we don’t have a steak with cheese on top solely derives from massive propaganda over the years by the meat and dairy industries.

Steve Arlin, author of Raw Power, has been a raw vegan for years yet has a body akin to that of Arnold Schwarzenegger. He eats only fruits, seeds, nuts, and vegetables—that’s it.

Now don’t panic—I’m not suggesting that you eat nothing but raw food after the 7-day program, nor am I suggesting that you become a vegetarian or vegan at all. You will see that the Phase 2 Turbo-Charge and Phase 3 Juicy Lifestyle plans are a very “real” approach to health for all and you will also see that there’s some natural “live” yogurt included in the 7-day program. But, no, I’m not trying to twist your arm in order to persuade you to dump meat and dairy for life. I’m simply pointing out yet again that you are not going to be nutrient deficient on this program.

As for fiber, which appears to be the argument about any kind of juice-only program, I want to put your mind at rest. As you will see, and anyone in the medical profession who cares to look at this program properly will understand, although much of the fiber is removed when you juice, the soluble fiber remains in the juice itself. Please also bear in mind that many of the smoothies contain whole blended avocado—probably the most complete food on the planet, with plenty of fiber and essential fats. I would also like to point out here that fiber cannot penetrate through the intestinal wall and it is only the juice contained within the fibers of the fruits and vegetables that feeds the body.

It’s the juice contained WITHINthe fibers that feeds the body

The fiber is there to act as a “brush” to keep things moving in the colon, a job that the soluble fiber, and the fiber in the avocados, can do more than adequately. Plus I am far from suggesting you live a life on nothing but juice after the 7 days juice-only program, so you will be getting more than enough fiber in life. So on a nutritional front, you really can rest assured that you will have more genuine goodness going into your body during the 7-day program than the average person has in a month. However, ever since the first copies of this book rolled off the printing press in 2006 in the UK, the skeptics (which often consist of certain doctors/nutritionists and dieticians) continue to try and find evidence to substantiate their preconceived beliefs. They continue to “attack” despite the tens of thousands of genuine life-changing testimonials that clearly fly in the face of their apparent scientific “facts.” The reason I wish to cover each and every one one of the “attacks” before you start this life-changing program is not simply to reassure you and explain in a very rational, commonsense way why this is perhaps the healthiest rapid weight-loss program in the world, but more because there is almost no question that you will be on the receiving end of the attacks yourself. I can guarantee you that by even voicing that you will be living on nothing but freshly extracted juice for a week, the arguments will start. It’s a strange world we live in but say to anyone that you will be sticking two fingers up to healthy eating for a week and living on burgers, fries, and getting drunk and the reaction tends to be “Good for you—life’s too short.” However, tell them you’re cutting out all the junk from your diet and that you’ll be living on nature’s finest freshly extracted juice for a week and get ready to go head-to-head.

Now we need to understand that part of this is often due to their own fear of your getting thin and looking amazing. After all, no one wants a hot, thin friend! OK I’m being a little jovial, but there is more than an element of truth in that statement. What I mean is, by simply voicing that you are about to jump on the road to the land of the thin and healthy, it often highlights that they are not. This often creates an unconscious fear, which in turn causes the friend to “attack” what you are doing so you will stay on the same road as them. Obviously this isn’t always the case and at times the “attacks” are born out of a genuine concern based on the scaremongering fallacies they have read. Hopefully by the time you start with the program you will either brush aside any attacks—as you will know the truth—or you will be armed with enough knowledge to counter any such arguments. With that in mind, there has been one argument that has come up more than any other since I first wrote this book and its one I didn’t even think about when I first wrote it:

WHAT ABOUT THE SUGAR?!

In fact, as I write this update I have just come back from a tour of Dubai, Australia, Turkey, and the UK and the one question journalists were asking more than any other was “Yes, but what about the sugar?” This led me to write a small piece on Facebook that I have expanded here because I think it’s vital that you fully understand what I felt was the frighteningly obvious …
