BRITISH AND AMERICAN SETTLEMENT

Оглавление

Mount Desert Island was largely ignored by French and English settlers over the next 150 years, with the French focusing their interests in Canada and the English focusing on the region around Boston. However, with the British victory in the French and Indian War, boundary disputes between the two European powers ended in 1763. English settlers soon began to arrive in the area. After the Revolutionary War, even more people came in search of farmland, forest products, and jobs in a growing shipbuilding industry.
