Remember the Dred Scott Decision, a decision by the Supreme CourtSupreme Court that contributed to the beginning of the Civil War? About fifty years later at the very end of the 19^th century, the Supreme Court ruled in another controversial decision, Plessy v. FergusonPlessy v.Ferguson, that separate facilities (in this specific case separate railway cars [49]for blacks and whites) weren’t per se unconstitutional as long as the facilities were of equal quality ( 7).
