A NOTE ON CLAMPING
ОглавлениеA properly prepared joint with smooth, well-mating surfaces requires only moderate clamping force to hold the pieces to be joined together while the glue cures.
If too little glue is applied, there will be dry areas in the joint with little or no adhesion, thus prone to failure. If too much glue is applied, extreme clamping pressure may be necessary to get the excess glue out of the joint, and it can be very messy.
Clamping cauls serve to protect the work from being marred by the clamps and to evenly distribute the clamping forces.
