Оглавлениеbefore you go
Even more important than school supplies and new shoes is bringing
a good attitude with you as you head to middle school.
Be self-confident.
Almost every girl cares what other people think about her—especially
when meeting new classmates or trying out a new look.
It’s natural
to be a little unsure of yourself
in new situations, but try not
to think the worst when things are left unsaid. If someone is staring
at your new haircut, she may be thinking how it would look on her!
Be realistic.
You skipped over question #3 on the test and blew your chance for
a perfect score. So you spend the rest of the day thinking: How could
I be so stupid?
Give yourself a break.
Don’t beat yourself up over
every little mistake. Instead, celebrate what you did right, and accept
and understand what you did wrong. Then move on, knowing that you
did the best you could do.
Be levelheaded.
Worrying sucks up your energy.
Don’t let thoughts about
what could go wrong eat away at your precious time, or you’ll be left
with nothing to show for it—except
a bellyful of butterflies. Focus on
what good things could happen:
I might get an A! If you have to
consider the negative “what-ifs,”
follow up each one with a positive
“what-if.” Give yourself five minutes;
then
get on with things.
