A Political Poem
ОглавлениеI See The War Ended For Some
The Iraq desert is scorching hot the nights are cold
Sent here to fight not looking very old
I learned how to use many guns
War over democracy to avenge the fallen ones
So many fight against freedom left crippled or died
On both sides of the battlefield political leaders have lied
I wonder why I am here in a land with many buried souls
Are oil prices up and taxes for government my role?
War ending could collapse the war companies fast?
Would oil be priced high, could the military last?
I wonder what the soldiers that died in heaven would say
They traded their life for taxation and a day’s pay
Lost souls finding employment in the war to fight
Military employment numbers high; is that right
If other political leaders bombed Iraq would they be free?
Will the world stand up in a war crimes tribunal to see?
War spread to Afghanistan over terrorism concerns I hear
Insulting Taliban bringing repeat terrorism near
Weapon corporations made a huge financial score
Unemployment shrinking government tax base even more
Huge tax breaks for corporations creating more poor
Crippling our way of life leaving citizens to pay the score
Taking our luxury building more frowns than smiles
Crushed liberty, and rights creating poor lifestyles
Country debt building a life for the average child
The next generation paying for war running wild
Government spending creating more debt in the end
The next generations’ revolution if they don’t bend
Is this why those soldiers had to die?
Looking down from heaven in the sky
Politicians get away telling the biggest lie
Waiting for more civilians or soldiers to die
