Chapter 2: Spatial conceptualization and implementation

Оглавление

In chapter 2, we first examine the strengths and challenges associated with GIS. This is done through a step-by-step process that closely discusses each aspect of the GIS terminology: geography, information, and system. This chapter focuses on the connection between conceptualizing and understanding the broader picture and the values of the logical data model and physical data model. The chapter explores determining project goals and defining concepts and parameters important to a study question. Once we define key variables, we provide guidelines on how to implement them, with an emphasis on spatial analysis in ArcGIS.
