help build my car.

Hi, adults!

If you and your child

have never experienced the Pinewood

Derby before, you’ve come to the right

place. This book will guide you through

the creation of a derby car from start

to finish, explaining everything you

need to know, WITHOUT overwhelming

either of you.

We’ve broken down the process into

seven easy chunks. These chunks

can be approached one at a time. I

recommend giving each step its own

separate day; that way, your child

can accomplish the tasks without

getting tired or exasperated. If you

create a schedule of accomplishing

one or two of the steps a week,

you can have your car done well in

advance of race day.

The Pinewood Derby experience is

a great way to spend quality time

with your kid, and to allow him to

develop a sense of pride in his own

work. Work as a team, and don’t be

afraid to give your child the reins

after all, this is his project! It’s

impossible for your child to fully

experience the Pinewood Derby if

YOU build the car. Remember

number one goal of the Derby is

having fun!
