CHILDREN AND THE BULL TERRIER

Оглавление

Though the Bull Terrier is a lovable, playful pet, this does not make him the perfect pal for a child—at least not without proper training and supervision. You will have much more success in raising a Bull Terrier in a home that already has children. If you’ve had a Bull Terrier for several years before small children are introduced into the home, there could be problems. Bull Terriers do not take kindly to the teasing, poking and pulling that children often exercise with a pet animal. Unfortunately, the Bull Terrier’s first reaction to such violation is to bite—a very dangerous situation for small children who do not know any better. Be sure that your child understands that he should treat your Bull Terrier with respect. Never leave a Bull Terrier and child unsupervised. With time, training and the development of mutual respect, children and Bull Terriers not only will get along well together but also will thrive. A Bull Terrier is a happy, playful dog, always ready for anything a child cares to do. Because of his great strength and endurance, the Bull Terrier has what seems to be endless patience with children once he befriends them.

However, even if your Bull Terrier gets along quite well with your children, do not assume he will be so friendly with all children. Again, be sure to always supervise his activities with children.
