Current situation:
Case IH is still producing tractors.
The American-built Case 2090, 2290 and 2390 made their UK debut in 1978. They were to be sold alongside smaller English-built David Brown 90-series models.
The heavy tractors, designed mainly for drawbar work on the American prairies, were powered by large 8.3-litre six-cylinder engines and featured powershift transmissions.
The example seen here is a 2090. The 2090 was the smallest model in the range and was rated at 120 hp, while the 2390 – the largest model – was a 171 hp tractor.
In 1983 the range was updated to become the 94-series, with the 121 hp 2094 replacing the 2090. By now fourwheel drive was fitted as standard in the UK. The tractors were ultimately replaced in 1989 by the first Case IH Magnum models in the UK.
