pH after Experimental Skin Barrier Disruption
ОглавлениеThe pH of normal hairless mouse skin is about 5.8. After skin barrier disruption by tape-stripping, the pH is increased to values of about 6.5. The buffer capacity after skin barrier disruption has not been examined yet, but theoretically it should be reduced because of the removal of cells and intercellular compounds important for skin pH and buffer capacity. The application of an acidic solution with an appropriate buffer and buffer capacity after barrier disruption leads to less increase in pH than after the application of a neutral or alkaline solution [12, 30].
