RESOURCES

A drum or tambourine

ACTIVITY

• Support the children to sit in a semicircle.

• Choose a child and model saying their name and banging the drum or tambourine to the number of syllables in their name, e.g. if name is ‘Annabelle’ bang the drum for each syllable: ‘Ann’ ‘a’ ‘belle’.

• Then go around the group and support each child to bang the drum, saying their name and hitting the drum for each syllable of their name.
