4. “WHO THESE SONGS FOR?”

Оглавление

Two days in, we found ourselves cruising around the island on Happy Smile’s scooter. As we rode along, I started singing a song;

‘Mr. Lover, lover, mmm, mr. Lover, lover, mmmmm… She calls me mr. Boombastic, tells me fantastic, touches me inna me back, she say,– i’m rooo-..’

It was a song called ‘Bombastic’ by Shaggy that I enjoyed singing. Happy was momentarily taken aback and asked me where I knew the song from.

To me, it was a funny question – I mean, who doesn’t know that song? For Happy, my choice of song carried a deeper message. Playfully referring to him as ‘Mr. Romantic, Fantastic mmmm’ seemed to carry a deeper message.

I discovered that this song had been in his life since childhood. Even though he didn’t understand any of the English lyrics, he mimicked the voices after listening to them many times.

I was picking these waves of feelings inside of me, as my mind whispered songs and themes that felt highly correlated to his story on this planet, mirroring his journey.

For years of my life, I had been listening to many of the songs from his sets – over and over again, singing with them, driving with them, loving them, and feeling a deep connection.

He shared with me that he didn’t even know where those songs came into his laptop from and he even named a few sets as ‘Who these songs for?’

A few weeks before our meeting, I was riding my motorbike in India, in a town called Auroville. It was a remarkably serene evening, yet I felt a little somber inside, almost like missing a person I had never even met.

There was a song stuck in my head, though I couldn’t fully remember the lyrics or the artist. The melody grew louder and louder in my mind. I stopped near a banyan tree and sat near it to check Google, trying to find and listen to it. I wrote a few words from the lyrics that were coming to my mind:

“I’m falling… ninini ninini for change ninininii nii niii niii.”

Still, I couldn’t find the song. So I simply sat and allowed myself to feel the feeling I was going through.

And then, right after I sang Shaggy to Happy, he sang THAT VERY SONG to me! – a deeply moving song called ‘Shallow’ by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.

I want to send you a little beautiful message dear past me;

Believe in yourself that even when you feel confused and don’t know what is going to happen, amazing things are waiting for you.

Believe in yourself. Even when you feel confused and don’t know what is going to happen, trust that amazing things are already waiting for you.

When you are done swimming in the shallow, life will carry you into greater oceans you have never experienced before.

Trust. Time is here to support you.

Thank you, dear divine time.

Life is very funny in its own way.

I choose to believe even more that the universe supports humans with similar goals to come together in their lives. And that nothing is a coincidence in this beautiful life.

Thank you, dear beautiful universe, for supporting me to find my Happy Smile.

I want to understand you more.
