From his vantage point, Ezekiel could see the silhouette of God’s beloved city of Jerusalem on top a plateau in Hebron, located in the southern portion of the Judean Mountains. It is most likely that the prophet was taken to Mount Meron which is located in the Northern District of Israel. Mount Meron is estimated to be approximately 1,208 meters or 3,963 feet above sea level, thereby making it the highest peak within Israel besides the Golan Heights. On a clear day and under the best of conditions, it is possible to view the city of Jerusalem from Mount Meron, which is about 130.6 miles away.

Ezekiel explained that it was the Spirit of God who brought him to the mountain, there he saw a man whose appearance was that of brass. This man who was standing in the gate had a line of flax and a measuring reed in his hand. The Holy Spirit introduces the prophet to the man who was already waiting for his arrival. This was truly a man and his identity is of no secret, because Ezekiel had seen him before in earlier visions of God. This person was none other than Yeshua Jesus Himself! The Hebrew “Ish” [H. 376], transliterated “man” was used, which proved that the prophet’s tour guide was not an angel, because the Hebrew and Aramaic word for “angel” is Malakh. This man was more than a messenger, because the measurements he was about to give Ezekiel were not measurements for a natural temple but a spiritual one. The Word of God makes it clear that man will judge angels (1 Corinthians 6:3). 1 Peter 2:1-6 instructs us: “Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious. Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture, “Behold I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious and he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame” (NKJV). The revelation of the next nine chapters will be the reconstruction of the new man in Yeshua Jesus his Savior and Lord, preparing him for the New Jerusalem of God.

As previously indicated, a third temple will be built by man in the city of Jerusalem that will be desecrated, but Yeshua will be building a fourth indestructible temple (Acts 7:48; 17:24).
