the burnt offering, of a cubit and an half long, and a cubit and an half broad, and one cubit high: whereupon also they laid the instruments wherewith they slew the burnt offering and the sacrifice. And within were hooks, a hand broad, fastened round about: and upon the tables was the flesh of the offering.”
Beginning from this point onward, there is a paradigm shift as Yeshua continues His discussion regarding the size of the temple and its prescribed sacrificial offerings. More will be said about the temple and its offerings from chapters forty-two through forty-six. How will these offerings tie in with the new man in Yeshua Jesus? Should their significance be taken literally? Should animal sacrifice be re-instituted when Yeshua has already paid that price in full by the shedding of His blood? All these questions will be answered shortly as the prescribed offerings points to Yeshua’s finished work on the Cross and His final resting place in man.
The measurements given for this temple indicates that they were not intended for the architectural plan designated for the third temple proposed to be constructed in Jerusalem. If these measurements were to be taken literally, the construction of the third temple would surpass the glory of the Seven Wonders of the World. This massive structure would be larger than the city of Jerusalem itself, which is a little over forty-eight square miles. These measurements must therefore be applied to the construction of the most important temple of all… and that is the temple of man. We are a temple and the LORD did make it quite clear to His servant King David in the Old Covenant that the construction of a physical temple would be a place for His name only and clearly explained by Stephen and Paul in the New Covenant. Acts 7:44-48 and 17:24-28 states: “Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as He had appointed, speaking unto Moses, that he would make it according to the fashion that he had seen. Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drove out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David; who found favor before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob. But Solomon built Him a house. Howbeit the Most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet. . . . God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that He is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, seeing He
