The Three Big Questions Why Build at All?
ОглавлениеThe potential answers to this question are as many and varied as the people asking. List your answers and keep coming back to them as you progress through the thinking and design stages of your project. If your reasons for building are not being adequately addressed by the designing and planning you are doing, it’s time to reassess. Don’t allow the project to fuel itself — keep track of why you are doing what you are doing. For example, if one of your primary reasons for building is to lower your current shelter costs, then be sure you are thinking toward a detailed budget. If, during the thinking process, you realize you won’t be able to build within budget, you may need to reconsider. You may want to scale back your ambitions, rethink your financing, alter your time frame, or perhaps postpone your project for the time being until your preconditions for building have been met.
It is all too easy to let momentum take over in a building project, and that momentum can launch you in directions far from your original intentions. Only by writing down your intentions and focusing on them clearly can you ensure that you are running the project and not having the project running you!
