Anti-mature make-up!

Оглавление

Disguising skin changes can be really effective and easy. With every skin change ageing inflicts there is a solution to combat it with make-up!

Dry skin Use a good moisturiser and primer under your make-up to mattify the skin and remove all traces of uneven patches of dryness whilst preventing make-up sinking into flaky, uneven skin. Follow with a light tinted foundation to give a sheer coverage and a light-reflective appearance.

Lines and wrinkles Use products that don’t sink into creases around the eyes. Light and powder-based eyeshadows work best. Avoid shine and shimmer as these exaggerate ageing effects. Cream shadows look great for the cheeks. Using facial, lip and eye primers will go some way to preventing make-up seeping in so apply those before the foundation.

Thin skin This type of skin can look radiant but if you don’t like the effect increase your foundation coverage slightly and apply natural shades of blush and bronzer to add a healthy glow to possible sallow skin.

Saggy skin Facial contouring to shade and highlight areas of the face are a nice idea and using light-reflective foundations draws attention away from saggy skin. Light, bright colours are great on eyes and lips but always go natural with blush.

Hot flush! At times of extreme heat remember to blot and not wipe away excess perspiration and try to use a foundation which is fairly low coverage so pores do not show during the day. Try a peachy blush or bronzer rather than red tones as the skin will flush these anyway.

Droopy eyes Use a light colour eyeshadow all over the lid to open the eye area and stick to natural colours. Avoid shimmer and shine at all costs! Never use liquid liner as it tends to splodge onto the lid; opt for a smoky eye pencil instead. Curl the eyelashes and follow with a lighter shade of mascara as it is not so harsh.

Deteriorating lips Use a primer base to prevent lipstick bleeding and choose a matt lipstick in your preferred shade. Add gloss if you like but wet lips can look odd on lips of age so a shimmer will be more flattering.

REVERSE TIME WITH MAKE-UP

Although skin faces many challenges with age we can certainly appear to reverse time with make-up. Light and subtle shades and shimmers create a natural but glowing youth which complements any age and any skin identity.

Apply a light foundation with light-reflective properties so it never looks powdery. Conceal the areas of concern but avoid concealing under the eyes with a heavy wax-based concealer as this may run into the fine lines around the eyes and draw unwanted attention. Choose a liquid concealer instead.

Using a cream champagne coloured eyeshadow will open the eyes and highlight under the brow for more definition. Plucking rogue hairs from the brows will lift the arch and open the eyes.

Curl the lashes and apply a grey or brown mascara to complete the natural look. Eyeliner pencil looks great to define the corners of the eyes and to widen them. Apply a pink or peach blush to the apples of the cheeks and blend to look natural. Lip primer and liner will provide the best base for lipstick. Apply a matt colour to the lips adding sheer shimmer to the centre of the lips for an evening look.
