Campus Setting

Colorado State is a public university. Founded in 1870, it became a land-grant college in 1879 and was granted university status in 1957. Its 586-acre main campus is located in Fort Collins, Colorado at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, 65 miles north of Denver. A four-year public institution, Colorado State University has an enrollment of 31,256 students. Campus facilities include: art gallery · center for the arts · historic costume and textile museum. Student Life and Activities

Most students (75 percent) live off campus. CSU Rams maintain an active social life; whether enjoying live music in the vibrant local nightlife or attending one of the many cultural events held on campus, there's no shortage of opportunities to unwind. The hot spots for students are Lory Student Center, Morgan Library, Mugs Coffee Lounge and any of the numerous bars and restaurants in Old Town Fort Collins. CSU/CU (football) Rocky Mountain Showdown, Homecoming, Commencement, Ag day, Monfort lecture series, President's Fall Address and University Picnic, Spring Career Fair and Business Day are popular events. Colorado State University has 611 official student organizations. Student Government has a widespread influence on campus, as do many other academic and social groups. Academics and Learning Environment

Colorado State University has 984 full-time and 25 part-time faculty members, offering a student-to-faculty ratio of 17:1. The most common course size is 10 to 19 students. Colorado State University offers 220 majors with the most popular being business administration, health/exercise science and human development/family studies and least popular being agricultural economics, wildlife biology and fishery biology. The school has a general core requirement. Cooperative education is available. All first-year students must maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher to avoid academic probation. B Student Support and Success

Colorado State's Academic Advancement Center is available for low income and/or first generation students and those who have disabilities. These students are also eligible for the Mentoring for Leadership Program. A peer mentoring program, it connects students with upper class mentors and campus resources. Tutoring is available through the Center and is built around the philosophy that “with the right study strategies and resources to clarify content any student can raise their course grade.” Tutors assist students with finding study strategies that work for their course and explain content that students may have not completely understood in lecture.

How to Get Admitted

A high school diploma is required, although a GED is also accepted for admissions consideration. SAT or ACT test scores are required of all applicants.
