INTRODUCTION:
We Are Distinctively Christian A. J. Gordon founded Gordon College in 1889 “to prepare the people of God to do the work of God” in bold and creative ways. More than a century later, that is still our central commitment, and with 38 major offerings, we are preparing students to be leaders in a wide variety of disciplines.
4 DISTINCTIONS
ENGAGED STUDENTS
Freedom Within a Framework of Faith Gordon College values freedom. Freedom to ask challenging questions, probe new ideas and discover your calling. This freedom is deeply rooted in our faith in Christ—and it comes with the responsibility to live with integrity, grow in wisdom, and love God and our neighbor.
What awaits you at Gordon? It’s a community with a vision for excellence and a spirit of grace. Here, in this magnificent location, you will grow with friends and professors who have hearts eager to serve—and minds free to imagine new possibilities for hope.
Ask Questions. Build Faith. Bring Hope.
Gordon’s location, just twenty-five miles North of Boston, provides many opportunities for internships and hands-on work experience. From WHDH Channel 7 News to State Street Corporation, Gordon students are consistently placed at top internships in their fields—many of which become jobs after graduation.
With a study abroad program that allows students to study around the world, in most cases, at no additional cost to their regular tuition, students take full advantage of the many cultural opportunities available. Choose from one of over twenty programs sponsored by the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities, or petition to spend a semester in the country of your choice! The options are almost endless and because we see global education as a valuable piece of our academics, we work with our students to make their goals a reality.
In addition to great internships and global learning opportunities, Gordon students are a part of cutting edge research. Among recent examples are a physics student who presented his nuclear research at Duke University and a computer science major whose research internship led him to a Ph.D. program at Tufts University where he creates computer interfaces that are attentive to human emotions.
GREAT TEACHING
Gordon College’s dynamic faculty is made up of top scholars, many of which are nationally recognized. More than 80 percent of Gordon professors have earned Ph.D.’s or the terminal degree in their field, yet they are down to earth and accessible to students. They teach at Gordon because they are passionate about preparing students with an education integrated with faith.
