The Princess and… the hot water bottle

I never used to strip my bed, just hauling covers up before dashing off to work. In the cold winter months, I used to put a hot water bottle at my feet. One night the bed collapsed with me in it.

On investigation, I found a forgotten hot water bottle had burst, rotting the bedpost at the bottom of the bed. So incensed was Miss S, that she made me sleep for months with the bed propped up on bricks!

At least the Tokoloshe* didn't get me!

* South Africa; a mischievous and evil spirit. According to legend, the only way to keep the Tokoloshe away at night is to put a brick beneath each leg of one's bed.
