To make extra cash, I used to head a team of six girls, prepared to help out at various functions around the City. At one such event I was the wine waitress at the Savoy hotel’s main table at which Princess Alexandra was the guest of honour. Preparing to pour her wine, for some inexplicable reason I tripped, sloshing red wine down her cleavage and all down the front of her red velvet dress.

Goodbye sweet job, I groaned, but undaunted the gracious lady said plenty more where this came from, exiting to her dressing room and reappearing moments later in an identical outfit. My Supervisor was none the wiser.

She's been my favourite royal ever since!
