Our flat was in Tachbrook Street.

We had a basement flat with grape vines growing in the garden, puny little grapes as no sun got in, but imagine, grape vines in the middle of London! I shared seven flats in London days and they all had one thing in common… Irish landlords!

My landlords were all great. One took such a shine to us that he didn't come to collect the rent for months on end. Then he'd rock up for coffee and present us with an astronomical bill for rent, the water and lights, telephone etc! I told him he was nuts as we could have scarpered!
