WATER
ОглавлениеAs a general rule you should treat all backcountry water sources to avoid ingesting giardia (a waterborne parasite that causes giardiasis, an intestinal illness involving abdominal cramps, nausea, and diarrhea) and other aquatic nasties. Assume that all water is contaminated. Treating water can be as simple as boiling it, chemically purifying it (adding tiny iodine tablets, available at most outdoor stores), or pumping or squeezing it through a water filter and purifier.
