COOKING AND CLEANING UP
ОглавлениеWhen washing up, rinse as much as you can with water first. If you need a soapy wash, collect a potful of water from a lake or stream and move at least 100 feet away. Apply a small amount of biodegradable soap and lather up. Use a bandanna or towel to wipe away most of the soap, then rinse with the water in the pot.
Follow the same procedure with your pots and pans, making sure you eat all the food first (never dump leftover food in the water or on the ground). If you can’t eat it, pack it out!
Everything you pack in must be packed out, even biodegradable items like orange peels and pistachio shells. Burn paper if you have a fire; but do not attempt to burn foil or other noncombustible items; such attempts result in a dirty, unsightly fire pit.
