Failed human-dog relationships

Оглавление

Not all dog-owner relationships are a success. Perhaps as many as one in five fail, so if your first experience in dog ownership has not been a happy one, you are not alone. Make an effort to analyse the reasons for your experience. Your vet may be able to help identify the causes.

A dog may become a problem because:

º it was wrongly selected, and doesn’t fit in to your environment/family/lifestyle

º it wasn’t trained properly by you or allowed to socialize properly with other animals in the household

º there was an inherent problem in the dog’s genetic make-up.

Elderly dog owners have been shown to be more motivated and purposeful than those who live entirely on their own.

If you can identify the reasons for the problems you experienced with your previous dog, and eliminate those problems, then do try again. Owning a dog can indeed add to the quality of your life.
