Оглавление

The primary challenges in cashew breeding are due to its narrow genetic base in regions where the crop has been introduced. Research is currently focused on screening local germplasm for desired traits using various phenotypic and molecular markers. Preliminary transgenic experiments have had limited success. The need for pest-resistant, salinity-tolerant cultivars with improved yield in nuts to meet increasing demand for cashews in the international market is critical. Developing allergen-free transgenic cashew is important for introducing safer cashew products in the market.
