Levodopa

Оглавление

Levodopa is the cornerstone of PD pharmacological management and continues to be the most effective treatment in all stages. It is usually the first-line treatment for older patients or for cases that are active at the time of diagnosis and, thus, need to maximize their performances. The tendency is to keep levodopa dose low in the early stage (<500/600 mg/day) to delay motor fluctuations. To this end, when slight motor fluctuations start, possible approach is to combine levodopa with MAO-B inhibitors or DAs [3, 5].
