Adopting the IADPSG Consensus
ОглавлениеNevertheless, the HAPO study, for the first time, provided the evidence base for the association between hyperglycemia and adverse perinatal outcomes to allow for a clinically relevant diagnostic scheme for GDM. Since the results showed a continuous relationship between glucose values and adverse outcomes, no cutoff was reported. Determining the diagnostic cutoff was therefore arbitrary and not a pure medical issue. This is what the IADPSG did [32] – and that set the debate, for or against, adopting the recommendations. In the following sections, we explore the arguments against or favor for the suggested criteria.
