You can also draw your own icons in your Bible to illustrate
what the verse means to you. Practice by drawing the
following step-by-step flowers and birds before creating your
own unique variations.
Tracing, Drawing,
and Patterning
Tracing
There are many ways to get art into your Bible even if you don’t have
a lot of drawing experience. One of the easiest methods is to simply
trace an image.
The bonus section at the back of this book has a
variety of designs that you can pull out and use for this purpose.
Find one you like, and then tape it to the reverse side of the Bible page
with removable tape. Bibles are printed on thin, practically translucent
paper, so you’ll be able to see the design without much difficulty.
Once the design is in place, trace it using a fine point permanent pen,
like a Pigma Micron 005 or 01 pen, anchoring the page with your
nondominant hand while you work. When finished, gently remove the
tape and the traceable design from the back of the Bible page.
You can create your own traceable designs, too. Just draw an image
on scrap paper or in your personal sketchbook or journal, working on it
until you are satisfied with it, and then trace it into your Bible.
1. Tape the chosen design on the
back of the page you want to
trace it on (facedown).
2. Trace the design.
3. Remove the taped design to
reveal your finished drawing.
Color if desired.
