Simple Feather Stencil Technique
Stencil Inspiration
All the images on pages 20–21 were created with stencils from
Joanne’s Inspired Journaling line from The Crafter’s Workshop.
1.
Trace.
Place the
stencil where you
want the design and
trace only around
the edges.
2.
Fill.
Using the same
pen, completely fill
the right half of the
outlined areas.
3.
Partially fill.
Partially fill
in the other half of the
areas with the same
color, using short strokes
to create the illusion
of dimension.
4.
Write.
Write the
word or words
you want to focus
on. Embellish and
enhance the line
weight if desired.
Gail Beck made this stunning silhouette tree
with black and white acrylic paints and a
stenciling brush. She used black and white gel
pens (Gelly Roll by Sakura) for the lettering.
