Grammar Focus

Present Continuous используется для:

Действий, происходящих прямо сейчас.

Временных действий, которые происходят вокруг момента речи.

Запланированных действий в ближайшем будущем.

Образование:

I am + V-ing

I am reading a book. – Я читаю книгу.

He / She / It is + V-ing

She is watching TV. – Она смотрит телевизор.

You / We / They are + V-ing

They are walking in the park. – Они гуляют в парке.

Типичные ошибки:

Забудьте добавлять -ing:

Wrong: She watch TV now.

Correct: She is watching TV now.

Использование Present Simple вместо Continuous для действия, происходящего прямо сейчас:

Wrong: I read a book now.

Correct: I am reading a book now.

Неправильное сочетание формы глагола с подлежащим:

Wrong: I is watching TV.

Correct: I am watching TV.

Советы:

Обратите внимание на слова-маркеры: now, at the moment, currently, today.

Для 3-го лица единственного числа нет изменения формы глагола – только is + V-ing.

Story

A Busy Morning

It is Monday morning. Peter is sitting at his desk and drinking coffee. His sister, Lisa, is reading a magazine in the living room. The cat, Whiskers, is sleeping on the sofa.

Peter’s mother is cooking breakfast in the kitchen. She is making eggs and toast. Peter’s father is talking on the phone in the office.

Outside, the neighbors are walking their dogs. The sun is shining, and the birds are singing. Peter’s little brother is drawing pictures at the table.

At this moment, Peter is typing an email. Lisa is listening to music. Everyone is busy, but the house is full of laughter and energy. It is a typical morning in Peter’s home.
