ОглавлениеUnicorn Kiss Cookies
These cookies with a silly name are seriously scrumptious. They’re created when
balls of sugar cookie dough are rolled in pastel-hued sanding sugars before baking.
White chocolate kisses add a smooch of creaminess to the sugar-coated bites.
Makes 36 cookies
2⁄ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
⁄ teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted butter,
at room temperature
1½ cups sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
3–5 sanding sugars in different
colors (blue, green, pink, yellow
and/or red) for decorating
1 package (10⁄–12 oz)
chocolate candies or kisses

PREPARE THE PANS. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line 2 cookie
sheets with parchment paper.
2
MAKE THE DOUGH. In a medium bowl, mix the flour, baking
powder, and salt. In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, beat
together the butter and sugar on medium speed until blended, about
1 minute. Reduce the speed to low, add the eggs and vanilla, and
beat until combined, about 1 minute. Turn off the mixer and scrape
down the sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula. Add about half of
the flour mixture and beat on low speed just until blended. Add the
remaining flour mixture and again beat just until blended.
3
SHAPE THE COOKIES. In a shallow bowl, make separate piles of
the colored sugars. Scoop up 1 rounded tablespoon of the dough.
Scrape the dough off the spoon into your hand and roll between
your palms into a ball. Roll a different section of the dough ball in
each colored sugar to create a tie-dye effect. Place the ball on a
prepared pan. Repeat with the remaining dough, spacing the balls
about 3 inches apart on the pans.
4
BAKE THE COOKIES. Place 1 cookie sheet into the oven and bake
the cookies until the edges are lightly browned but the tops are
barely colored, 10–12 minutes. Let cool on the pan on a wire rack for
5 minutes, then transfer the cookies directly to the rack. Repeat with
the remaining cookie sheet of cookies.
5
DECORATE THE COOKIES. Meanwhile, unwrap the chocolate
candies. After the cookies have cooled for 10 minutes, press a candy
into the center of each cookie. Let cool completely before serving.
