Sequin knitting is basically just stocking stitch. Bringing a sequin through to the right side of the work as you knit a stitch makes the sequin lie flat on the front of knitting. Working the stitch through the back of the loop is not necessary for all yarns but will help stop the sequin slipping through to the wrong side when working with a smooth yarn.

Work until ready to place a sequin, insert the left needle into the back of the next stitch, bring a sequin up close to the work, and slip the sequin through to the right side as you knit the stitch.
