Cleanser
MATERIALS
2 tablespoons liquid Castile
soap (preferably unscented,
lavender, or another mild scent)
1 tablespoon almond oil (can
also use jojoba, apricot kernel,
or vitamin E oil)
2 tablespoons brown or white
rice flour, finely ground
1 tablespoon baking soda
2 teaspoons activated charcoal
2 to 3 drops lavender essential
oil (optional)
TOOLS
Coffee grinder
1
/
In a small bowl, stir together the Castile soap and oil.
2
/
Add the rice flour, baking soda, and activated charcoal.
The mixture may bubble up a bit.
3
/
Keep stirring until smooth and creamy. At this point, add
the lavender essential oil, if using.
4
/
Transfer the mixture to an airtight container and store
it in a cool, dry place. If the scrub becomes dry, add a little
water or almond oil and stir again until creamy.
5
/
To use, splash face with a little water to make damp.
Take 1 to 2 teaspoons of the cleanser and gently apply to the
face with fingertips, using small, circular motions and being
careful to avoid the area around the eyes.
6
/
If desired, let the scrub sit on the face for a few minutes
for extra oil-absorbing benefits.
7
/
Rinse with lukewarm water and pat face dry. Follow with
your favorite serum or moisturizer. For best results, use 2 to
3 times a week.
Charcoal is known for absorbing toxins internally—but it can also do so on the face, helping
with fine particles and mild materials, this cleanser is a completely gentle mini-facial.
