What’s that?! Gender expression is the way you show your gender on the outside—this includes things like your name, pronouns, clothes, hair, how you act, voice, and/or body presentation. Other people see this as gender, and the way they see it is very much influenced by culture and society. Transgender people want their gender expression to match up with their gender identity—not with the sex assigned at birth.
