Does Anything Ever Stay the Same?

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever! Don't be misled by the many strange teachings out there.

—Hebrews 13:8-9

It's more than a comforting thought to realize that Jesus isn't going to change his stripes or the way he thinks about us. He's not going to change his mind about redeeming us or about loving us. He's the same now as he was on his first visit to earth. His intent isn't skewed by what we go through or by what we do when we explore paths that aren't really good for us.

The good news about Jesus is that your quality of life can become more beautiful right now as you walk with him. It is up to you how much you allow him to guide your path. But the difference is that you can't create your own redemption. You can't lose the weight of sin without him. Only he can do that for you and since he has already done it, you're in. You're one of his favorite people, in fact.

So, you may not stay the same. You may gain some weight, or lose it. You may find a new job, build a new home, start a new path, but nothing you do will change the relationship you have with your Redeemer. He's the same today as he ever was and loves you always.

Lord Jesus, thank you for loving me and keeping me near you. Thank you that I can totally count on you. Help me be someone you can count on too. Amen.
