Speed Is More Important Than Ever

This is all about timing as speed is the most significant driver in digital transformation. The attention span of a customer is depleted in a few seconds, amidst enormous competition from lean, no baggage start-ups and tech giants alike. It is no longer the case that the big is overcoming the small, but fast is outpacing the slow. Hence, the speed of transformation and organizational agility to adapt to change is paramount. Technology is progressing at a rapid pace and it is not linear. However, businesses still think linearly in many situations, accustomed to being reactive to threat and opportunity. However, the environment has changed its order of magnitude. The biggest challenge for many old brands is to get into the future as quickly as digital disruptors have already marked, and failing to do so will leave them out of competition and ultimately out of business; for example, Thomas Cook collapsed after 178 years in business.
