ABSTRACT
ОглавлениеAfter witnessing the signature of a peace agreement between the Government and the FARC-EP guerrilla in 2016, Colombia is suffering social turmoil, institutional adjustment, and post-accord political disagreement, as has also marked other countries transitioning from conflict to peace. In this transition, the Colombian private sector has played a crucial role, as a promoter of peace negotiations and peacebuilding activity (for example, in relation with former combatants and victim communities), as a beneficiary of improved security and by generating investments in regions affected by conflict and poverty. In this chapter we analyze several business surveys and private investment data in order to respond to the following questions: How have companies behaved in a context of transition? What concerns do they have, and what opportunities to they see? What can be their contribution and what incentives have been designed to attract them to the complex challenges of building peace? By answering these questions, we hope to provide an overview of the Colombian private sector’s role in Colombian peacebuilding.
