4.2.3 lip configuration
ОглавлениеThe only vowel characteristic in Table 4.3 that can readily be seen in a mirror is lip configuration, which refers to whether the lips take on an “o”‐like, ROUNDED shape or a more spread, unrounded appearance. Only a handful of vowels in English, all of them back vowels, are rounded. These include the /u/ in boot and the /ʊ/ in book. Notice that these two vowels happen to be spelled the same way in these words.
