strange land and a barbarous people. It then became the responsibility of the LORD God to educate this bewildered and grieving young priest sitting among his brethren by the river Chebar. That which will follow Ezekiel’s tutelage, would give him peace for the next seventy trying years that were ahead and the assurance that GOD did not punish without a cause. This righteous man was called by the LORD to be His voice of rebuke as well as comfort to the exiles because they too, especially the young, would gain understanding as to the reason why they were being punished and only true repentance would be the antidote by which the favor of the LORD would be appeased.

The exiled priest was now to be ordained as a prophet. One may never understand why the righteous suffers the same fate at times with the wicked, but in the end it will bring him or her to that level of perfection in Yeshua Messiah and intimacy with GOD that could not have been attained otherwise. The LORD’S ways are higher than ours, and at times He will strategically place His people in uncomfortable situations to bring out the best in them and also His ultimate plan. In Ezekiel 1:3 it is stated: The Word of the LORD came expressly unto Ezekiel. The word “expressly” is used in the KJV; its Hebrew transliteration is Hayah [1961] which refers to the ever living; ever present, and ever knowing I AM THAT I AM. This statement is verifying that the pre-incarnate Son of GOD, Yeshua Jesus, was instructing Ezekiel because He was known as the “Word” before His earthly advent. 1 John 5:7 applying the NKJV states: For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit and these three are one (for further reading, see also Deuteronomy 6:4; Mark 12:29; John 1:1-4; 17:5; Philippians 2:6; Colossians 1:17; 1 John 1:1-2; Revelation 1:2; 19:13).
