Deuteronomy 4:11, 12), and He appears in fire (Exodus 3:2-6; Deuteronomy 4:24, 36; 5:22; Hebrews 12:29). The prophet, awe stricken, now braces himself, as the great cloud engulfed in billowing flames grew ever closer to him and it became clear to Ezekiel that the LORD was accompanied by His own special envoy of glorious living creatures called the Cherubim. These are the same class of beings commissioned by God to be the security guards of Eden when man was banished from their because of sin. In the dispensation of Yeshua Jesus, man will once again return to his home, the beautiful kingdom of God, the very ground from which he was created to communicate with God like he did before his fall from grace. As we continue our journey through the book of Ezekiel, more will be explained about these living creatures, because God created them in such a way that aspects of their attribute and appearance gives a visual story about man himself and his intrinsic design for worship.
Verses 5-9
Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man. And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings. And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf’s foot: and they sparkled like the color of burnish brass. And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings. Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward.
There is so much being revealed here, these creatures are identified as the Cherubim in Ezekiel 10:20-22. The prophet gives a vivid description of every facet of their appearance, and each aspect reveals something about God and His hope for all humanity. With this in mind, the
