Now remember one of the sets of faces of the living creature is that of man, and these beings are before the throne of GOD in rhetorical worship (Revelation 4:8). The massage that the LORD was sending to us here is this: the face of man speaks of leadership, authority, fellowship, and worship; (see Genesis 1 and 2). We are created to worship Abba Father; and a time is coming when fellowship between GOD and man will be restored and man will worship his Creator in spirit and in truth once again (John 4:23-24). There were four sets of faces, and each set is telling us that the ultimate goal of man is to rise to completeness and perfection in God because he was created for worship.
Each Cherub had four faces and each one had four wings, which is a total of sixteen faces and sixteen wings. Their feet or legs were straight and the soles of their feet were like that of a calf, which sparkled like burnish copper. The Hebrew word used for “straight” is Yashar [3474], it means just, right, upright, moral, lawful, or honest, therefore having one’s approval or blessing. Psalm 1:1-3 states: Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the Law of the LORD; and in His Law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. We see the creation of a new man unfolding; being just, moral, lawful and honest.
Next the soles of their feet were described as that of calf’s feet. Calf’s feet are symbolic of strength (Proverbs 14:4). In Hebrew “sole” is Kaph [3709], it compares to the eleventh letter of the Hebrew alphabet Kaf/Khaf, which shape like the letter “C” turned backwards; it means to turn upward, to expose the inside, which is to say; all things are revealed, there is nothing to hide, no secrets to keep; it bares its sole as it does its soul. Here we see the design of these living creatures telling a story of the future restoration and reconciliation of man with his Creator. A time is coming when we will no longer have to hide ourselves; for all things
