USING SEQUINS
ОглавлениеSequins can be threaded onto the crochet yarn in exactly the same way as beads. However, as the holes in sequins are often larger than those in beads, it is sometimes possible to simply thread them straight onto the yarn.
º Sometimes the beads will “move” through the crochet fabric as further rows or rounds are added and you may need to gently ease them back through to the right side of the work once the crochet section has been completed.
º Each motif is generally made in the same way as every other motif—but it is a good idea to double check on the pattern that this is the case!
º Be careful when placing the first and last stitches of rows of crochet that these are worked into the correct place. If the turning chain is counted as the first stitch of this new row, do NOT work into the stitch at the base of this chain. And, at the ends of rows, make sure to place the last stitch in the top of the turning chain of the previous row if this chain replaced the first stitch.
º Take care not to twist the base chain when joining the ends to form the foundation ring as this can make the edge uneven and spoil the work.
Sequinned double crochet and chain stitches are worked in exactly the same way as beaded stitches. Sequins can, however, sometimes fold themselves up the wrong way as they are attached and it may be necessary, once the section is complete, to just gently smooth the sequins down so that they all lie in the same direction.
