Working an Edging
ОглавлениеCrochet items often have a separate edging added afterward to smooth out the edge and give a professional finish, and it is important that this edging is worked evenly. It can be very easy to accidentally stretch an edge while working along it and this will distort and spoil the work.
The first row or round of an edging is normally worked with the right side of the crochet facing. To attach the yarn to start an edging, make a slip knot and slip this over the hook. Insert the hook into the edge at the point specified in the pattern and work a slip stitch to secure the yarn. Follow the pattern to work the rest of the edging, taking great care, if working in rounds, to check whether the work needs to be turned or not at the end of each round.
