Joining the Crocheted Pieces
ОглавлениеOnce all the crocheted sections have been completed, they may need to be joined together to complete the item. To join the pieces together, use a blunt-pointed sewing needle and the same yarn as used for the crochet. While it is possible to buy needles specifically designed for sewing together hand knits or crochet items, a large-eyed tapestry or cross stitch embroidery needle is just as good. Using a large blunt-pointed needle ensures that, as the seam is stitched, the fibers of the yarn used are gently eased apart, leaving room for the seaming yarn to easily slide through the work without causing any damage.
The type of stitch that should be used to join the edges together will depend on the type of crochet stitch that has been worked, the yarn that has been used and the position of the seam within the item.
