ОглавлениеThe most expensive option is to pay the walk-up fare on the day of your journey. The further in advance you book, the cheaper things will be. Under-fives travel free, while those aged 6–15 pay half price. There is also a range of budget passes available to help you cut costs further, which entitle the holder (or holders) to up to a third off the standard fare for a period of up to a year. These can be bought from most rail stations or purchased online at www.railcard.co.uk.
Family Railcard: £26, a third off the adult fare and 60 per cent off the children’s fares for up to four adults and four children.
Senior Railcard: £26, a third of the standard fare for anyone over 60.
Young Person’s Railcard: £26, a third off the standard fare for anyone between the ages of 16 and 25.
Disabled Person’s Railcard: £18, a third off the standard fare for anyone registered disabled.
