Considering the expense and the brevity of the journeys – you’ll no sooner be up than down again – air travel is an option only for the very rich or the very impatient. The exceptions are, perhaps, the offshore islands, as you can catch a small plane, operated by Skybus, to the Scilly Isles from various regional airports at a cost only slightly exceeding that of the ferry (see here).
